“Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience.”

— Oscar Wilde

Spring FORWARD

It’s spring, time for new goals, the Easter of our soul, rebirth.

My new motto: “Beauty does not need to be justified.”

Wonderful bit on muses in today’s Flavorpill. Missing a huge chunk of artistry with the absence of cinema, stage, music, sculpture and haute couture fashion. Which is one way of implying there can be only one TRUE art.

Post your favorites…I’m sure there are many…

Thanksgiving

Wherever you are, whoever you are with, remember this moment. You will never have it again. Give every ounce of love you have. Savor it. See what miracles spring from this.

Goodbye Jeanne-Claude

The tactile immediacy with which the artistic duo Christo transformed monumental architectural and natural environments was best summarized by Jeanne-Claude when explaining why their elaborate, labor-intensive projects could only be seen for an extremely brief time: “If someone were to tell you, ‘Oh, look on the right, there is a rainbow.’ You will never answer, ‘I will look at it tomorrow.'”

With the galactic fireworks of the Leonid Meteor Shower, a rare rainbow left us last night. She is already missed…

Saturn square Pluto

If you’ve felt off, rash, intense, pressured or otherwise at the edge of a cliff, welcome to the current astrological moment known as Saturn square Pluto.

This is known as the moment the bubble bursts. Bad new is no more bubble. Good news is…now what do you really want to create?

No quick fix here, and there is no turning back. So use it to go forward!

Dancer to Dancer

Martha Graham to Agnes de Mille

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you…..no artist is pleased…there is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than others.”

Martha Graham, “I am a Dancer”

“I am a dancer. I believe that we learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living, the principles are the same. In each it is the performance of a dedicated precise set of acts, physical or intellectual, from which comes shape of achievement, a sense of one’s being, a satisfaction of spirit. One becomes in some area an athlete of God.”

Forgiveness

Living in the past robs us of vital energy needed to create. Begin by forgiving yourself for any unfinished project, business, dream. Give yourself permission to let it go, with trust that what you need will be provided when you need it. Remember to breathe as you release. Think of as many as you can, consciously releasing each one. Revel in the space created.

The universe hates a void. Allow for flashes of vibrant new ideas more suitable to your present tempo to appear and seed over the next few days.

Trust.

Opening the door

When will you open to the Muse?

“Creativity means to push open the heavy, groaning doorway of life itself…opening the door to your own life is in the end more…than opening the door to all the mysteries of the universe.” Daisaku Ikeda

Choose now. Open the door. Take a long look at what you see:

1) Describe this in your journal or in a letter mailed to yourself.

2) Depict this nonverbally to someone you love unconditionally (whether they know it or not), name it, date and sign it (physically or psychically), and present it to them or display with the intention of discovery, ie, do the action that makes it public (even if only in your home): post, frame, hang, send, show, perform, etc.

Please share your experience with me!
